Classes range from entry-level through to National competitive levels with options for all participants to progress their skills. ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ students from Year 2 can join the Co-curricular Program.

Internationally renowned Head Coach, Shixin (Golden) Li leads the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ Diving club, bringing world-class expertise and passion to our program.

Entry level classes are for those who have limited or no previous experience within the sport or have had a significant break from previous recreation diving. All other class types for selective recreation or competitive squads will require an assessment.

Diving Programs

Beginner – Age Recommendation: 5+ Years

Develops water confidence and safety awareness, suitable for beginners. Teaches fundamental takeoff and approach techniques on the 1m and 3m boards (3m board content: optional – coaches may include based on athlete ability and safety considerations), including forward and backward takeoffs, basic aerial positions and entry techniques, with emphasis on in-air body control and safe water entry to build a solid foundation for progression.

Program focuses on fun, progressive drills, partner and solo pratice, basic diving terminology, and age-appropriate conditioning to improve balance, strength and coordination.

Athletes in this group will be required to complete and demonstrate basic proficiency in at least two of the six diving groups (eg: forward, backward, reverse, inward, twisting, and amstand/combined movements) to ensure they have the necessary skills and safety awareness to progress to the intermediate level.

Intermediate – Age Recommendation: 5+ Years

Divers learn and practice all major dive groups (forward, backward, reverse, inward, twisting) with focus on refined technique, air control, and consistently safe entries. Placement is coach–assessed; mastering dives from at least three groups is expected. Divers proficient across four groups who meet technical and safety standards are eligible to compete – the Club supports entries and provides pre-competition training for Diving NSW events.

Having graduated from Beginner, athletes enter a structured intermediate program that introduces a progressive training plan and encourages trying new skills and combinations. Intermediate divers are expected to master at least four of the six diving groups, with selected dives practiced from the 3m board (3m content: optional based on coach assessment and safety). This stage presents new challenges designed to accelerate technical development, increase confidence on higher boards, and prepare athletes for competitive pathways.

Advanced – Age Recommendation: 5+ Years

Athletes at this level have already mastered a broad repertoire of dives. Coaches deliver individualised training plans focused on technical refinement, correct of key details, and introduction of more complex dives to increase difficulty and competition readiness. Advanced divers are eligible to compete at Diving NSW events; for ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ Diving Club, the Club provides targeted pre-competition coaching and support.

This stage features tailored progression based on each athlete's needs, targeted skill development, and learning of higher-difficulty manoeuvres. Platform training is offered (5m / 7.5m / 10m), unlocking a new range of diving experiences and challenges. Advanced athletes are expected to complete and demonstrate proficiency in at least five of the six diving groups to ensure readiness for higher-level competition.
