This is an exciting year as ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ celebrates 140 years of excellence in girls' education.

This anniversary represents generations of bold thinkers, compassionate leaders, and young women empowered to shape the world. In fact, in 140 years more than 20,000 young women have left ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ ready to make their mark.

The ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ story began with a visionary idea. In 1886, The Sydney Morning Herald announced the opening of the Wesleyan Ladies College, Burwood, with a promise “to make provisions for those who wish to prepare for University honours.”

Since then, ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ has been a place where girls are encouraged to explore their passions, embrace challenge, and become confident, resilient learners. Across 140 years, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to fostering young women who are ready to lead, innovate, and make a positive impact.

This year of celebrations is filled with vibrant events, cherished memories, and inspiring stories that honour the School's past and shapes its future.

140 Year Anniversary Gala Dinner

ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Chair of Council, Kylie Bryden–Smith, and Principal, Lisa Moloney, invite you to an extraordinary night of celebration as ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ marks its 140 Year Anniversary with a spectacular Gala Dinner.

This landmark evening will bring together generations of the ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ community to honour a proud legacy — and to toast the bold future of girls’ education.

Step into a glamorous Black Tie celebration featuring fine dining, live entertainment and a dance floor that will carry the celebrations late into the night. Reconnect with friends old and new, share stories, and be part of a once‑in‑a‑generation moment in the life of the School.

She Makes a Difference | Celebrating 140 Years of ‘Walking in the Light’
ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´’s Concert at the iconic Sydney Town Hall continues the tradition of providing our musicians with the opportunity to perform in spaces generally reserved for professionals.

Calling all ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Old Girl Musicians!

This Concert’s finale performance will include the Old Girl’s Union (OGU) Choir and Old Girls who were/are musicians. To join this Choir or participate as an Old Girl musician in a massed item ending the concert, please complete . All ensemble instruments are welcome.

A Celebration of Your Connection to the School

Your connection to ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ is strong, enduring, and deeply valued. As ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ celebrates its 140th year, we invite you to symbolise that lasting bond by laying a commemorative paver in your name, the name of a family member or even a friend.

Whether you never had the chance before, or would like to honour your family’s generational ties, now is the perfect time. These pavers will be laid in 2026, creating a beautiful tribute to the people and stories that shape our community.

Each paver is a permanent symbol of your school days and your family’s legacy. You can tailor your message and even group pavers to reflect connections between grandmothers, mothers, and daughters.

A donation to the School’s Building Fund is recognised with a paver at the following levels:

  • 1 paver: $250
  • 2 pavers: $450
  • 3 pavers: $600
  • 4 pavers: $750

Each paver accommodates three lines of text, with a maximum of 18 characters per line, including spaces and punctuation. While there are many ways to personalise your message, one of the most timeless and effective is to include your name and the years you attended ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´. The message is limited only by the physical dimensions of the paver, encouraging simplicity and significance.
